Work Text:
Toko spent another day writing her next book – just to not let her inspiration slip away when she's not working on it. She didn't really pay much attention to what day it was, unless somebody would remind her of it.
It was her birthday, and she didn't care much about it. For many it was a special day, but she treated it as if it was any other day, nothing to celebrate.
When she decided to take a break, she could hear somebody ring to the door. There was only one person who would actually pay her a visit unannounced earlier.
She stood up from her chair and went to open the door.
As expected.
“Hello, Komaru,” she said quietly, as she usually did.
“Hi, Toko! May I come in?”
“Yeah, sure.”
Toko let Komaru in and closed the door behind her girlfriend. She noticed that she had a fancy paper bag in her hand.
“Haaaaapy birthday, dear!” Komaru shouted and hugged her tight.
“Th- thank you. But don't squeeze me so hard, I can barely breathe.”
“Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just really happy to see you.”
Yeah, it was obvious. Toko took Komaru to the living room that was tidy as always and when they sat down on the couch, Komaru gave her the bag.
“You really didn't need to. Your company is enough, you know?”
“But I wanted to. It's your day after all.”
Toko took the bag and unpacked it. There were a book she didn't hear of before, but looked like an interesting romance novel, and a box of her favorite chocolates.
“You're so much of an idiot, Komaru. It had to cost you fortune to get that book.”
“Don't say this, Toko. I'd do anything to make you happy.”
“As I said it so many times, just you being here makes me happy.”
