When their latest mission had been completed, Yukino had offered everyone to stay the night in a nearby hotel. Saki and Oyko’s apartments were across the city and it had gotten rather late.
It was an extremely fancy place, befitting Yukino's tastes and budget. Even the exterior of this hotel was fancy, having a massive garden out front. Who knew what it would have been like inside?
“We’re tough girls! We can make the trip back!” Okyo says as they walk down the garden path. Lit by lanterns as only the sounds of running water and shoes against stone. Each of the flowers looked gorgeous under the soft glow of the lanterns.
Yukino turned around. “Oh hush. And miss out on a chance to sleep in a luxurious bed?” She tilted her head and examined her girlfriend closely. “…Though perhaps that isn’t your style.”
Okyo tapped her head. “Hey! I can appreciate the finer things! I’ll prove it. I’ll sleep so soundly on that bed tonight.” Puffing her chest out in pride.
Saki could see how Yukino lovingly rolled her eyes from the gesture. Continuing to follow her, Saki spoke up. “Thank you Yukino-san for your generosity.”
Turning around once more, her eyes instantly lit up at Saki’s words. Hearing her country accent that her and Okyo had grown accustomed to. “Of course. We’ve dealt with so much lately. So why not live it up a little for one night? All of us have earned it.”
“I agree. It’ll be good for the three of us.” Saki nodded.
Once the girls walked inside they were greeted by staff. It was even fancier inside than either Saki or Okyo could have expected. Not that they had much to go off on in the first place. Especially Saki. Tosa had hotels, but they were more on the traditionally styled side. And much more humble.
The interior was reminiscent of Greek architecture, columns lined the lobby. Only adding to that feeling of luxury. The ceiling was high, with a painting of a stunning blue sky with clouds spread across.
The room Yukino bought was on the ground floor. So it didn’t take long to get there. It felt as if the hallways could go on forever. Perhaps they’d do a little exploring later to see what else this place had to offer for its guests.
Inside what waited for them was a room with cream fleur-de-lis wallpaper, a nicely sized television, an even bigger bed, and all the refreshments three girls could ever ask for.
With a second look—it was only just that one bed!
It was massive. The biggest Saki and Okyo had ever seen. But still…
“Wait.” Okyo put her hands on her hips, “You’ve got all this money and yet you only got us a room with only this one bed?”
Yukino put down her things with a sweet smile. “We’re only staying overnight. Plus this isn’t the first time we’ve shared a bed together.”
“…I mean you’re right. But I didn’t expect you to skimp on that.” Okyo grumbled. Placing her marbles into a tray on a nightstand for safekeeping. It wouldn’t be comfortable to sleep with marbles in her pockets.
Placing her yo-yo on the other nightstand, Saki grinned as she looked towards two of the most important people in the world to her.
She didn’t care about sharing a bed. Neither did the others. They shared Saki’s mattress at her apartment all the time. It had become rather comforting to her. Whenever they slept together Saki always felt more refreshed and rested in the morning.
Before Yukino and Okyo entered her life, she didn’t realize just how touch-starved she grew to become deep inside. Wearing that mask during her childhood, nobody outside of her mother wanted to be around her. Now she had her girlfriends to both cuddle and hug in quiet moments such as these.
She imagined the other girls must have liked it too. Especially Yukino. Because why else would she have gotten a room with only one bed?
Despite complaining about the lack of multiple beds, Oyko was also receptive to getting up and close with the two of them. She’d even initiate it sometimes herself, on rare occasions. Those times where Okyo allowed herself to do this were even more special.
The girls curled up together on the bed and turned on the television. Wrapping themselves in the blankets. Its sheets were made of a nice satin.
Countless shows were playing. Almost too many to pick from, possessing a massive amount of choice was overwhelming. As they inched closer together, they settled on a movie about a young boy going on a train across outer space.
Each of them felt the warmth of the others as they continued to cuddle and watch the movie. As always it was soothing. Saki felt her heart overflow with love, smooching Okyo and Yukino on the cheeks when commercial breaks came. The two sneaking in ones of their own as well.
The night went on. Together they’d watch more movies and TV. Chatting about school, shared worries about their homework and upcoming tests. Curling up even closer together under the blanket on the massive bed as they laughed and talked.
When was the last time they felt such pure comfort? With everything that had been happening it was hard to say. Each of their own homes were comfortable to them, but this hotel was very high-class.
It was truly a special occasion to cherish.
Saki would keep the memories of the smiles of Yukino and Okyo on this night close to her chest forever. Both the other girls would do the same.
After a point their eyes began to grow heavy, and the girls drifted off into sleep together. Their bodies pressed up against each other. Slowly breathing. Hearts still overflowing with endless love.
Perhaps in another world—the three of them could have done this without a backdrop of a fierce battle looming behind. Spending a night like this together as normal girls.
Maybe one day.
