The last thing Gu Xiang expected was for Gao Xiaolian to disarm her before she was even fully awake. She held up her hands as her own daggers were turned again her.
“Xiaolian-jiejie, it’s me,” Gu Xiang said with a weak smile. Though she harbored no ill intent and had drawn no weapon, she should have considered Xiaolian was the daughter of a legend.
Xiaolian blinked and dropped the daggers when she realized what she had done. “Oh…oh my. I am so sorry. Are you hurt?” She took Gu Xiang’s arm and lead her to sit on the bed.
The softness of her body pressed up against Gu Xiang’s side made her blush. “No, I’m fine. I just came to bring you a gift to thank you for your kindness. The guards wouldn’t let me in, so I had to sneak in the back way.”
Xiaolian laughed gently. “Well, it is the middle of the night.”
Gu Xiang grinned while producing the box of expensive sweets she had stolen.
“This is my favorite shop, how did you know?” Xiaolian gasped. “Let’s share!”
Letting Xiaolian delicately place the first one onto her tongue, Gu Xiang thought they tasted even sweeter.
