Sunset ^beta

Wind roared outside the apartment’s window, snow and ice coated the street. As well as everything else outdoors. The weather was absolutely horrible. It was a good thing that university was off for the week for the holidays. Not that it would be open under such conditions to begin with.

Rinne looked through the window. All of the air that surrounded the glass was cold too, making her shiver a little. This was her first experience of the winter weather of the United Kingdom.

A passing twinge of homesickness. She should text her friends later. Make sure everything is alright on their end.

“I’ve made us some hot chocolate!” Nayuta sang from across the apartment. Bringing it over on a tray, Rinne felt her heart warm up from seeing Nayuta’s grin. It was radiant.

She missed Japan, and all of her friends. But she wasn’t the same girl she used to be over a year ago. No matter where she’d be in the world, she wasn’t alone anymore.

It had been a few months since she and Nayuta started dating. This was Rinne’s first ever real relationship. Everyone back at the Academy and the girls over at Girl’s Remix were happy for the two of them.

Both Rinne and Nayuta had much to learn, this was Nayuta’s first relationship too. And they were happy to put in the work to navigate this new chapter each step of the way.

“Thank you.” Rinne smiled.

“Of course!” Nayuta sat next to her, placing the drinks on the table. “Gotta keep warm in this weather.”

That gave Rinne an idea.

She picked up the blanket next to her, it was a parting gift from Hotaro. A beautiful color of orange reminiscent of Majade. Made with a fabric that was super soft to the touch. Carefully she wrapped Nayuta and her underneath it, before resting her head on Nayuta’s shoulder.

“Now we can be even warmer.” She sighed with a smile. Enjoying a soothing sense of warmth envelop her.

Nayuta put her hand on hers, and the two intertwined their fingers together in a comfortable silence.

Rinne felt safe with Nayuta. Both of them had countless enemies to fight in this part of the world, Japan too. Even so, they were together. Nothing would tear them apart.

Meanwhile, for today they didn’t have to worry about fighting anyone. Just focus on staying warm with such frigid weather in the area.

The two relaxed. Watching TV and laughing at the movie on screen. Sipping their hot chocolate and snuggling up together. Enjoying every moment of each other’s company as the blizzard continued to march on outside.

Like with their missions, they absolutely had everything covered.
