Chapter Text
Izzy isn't shallow. She liked to pretend to be. A shield she put up after her mum died. Cat understood it. When she came out and her mum rejected her, Cat did the same thing. Front and bullshit so no one could see how deep the hurt really went. Bone deep, soul deep, heart shattered in tiny pieces level deep.
When they were alone, and the shields were down Cat could see into Izzy's soul. The good and the bad, the happiness and the sadness. It's why she loved her. The real Izzy. She loved her, Cat could admit that.

“Do you want a sip?” Izzy asked, holding out a can of monster as they waited for a bus into town. She should have taken her dad up on the offer for a lift, but she wouldn't to spend time with her girlfriend alone. No parents, no siblings, no friends. Just the two of them.
“God no,” Cat replied, wrinkling her nose in disgust. Rubbing her hands together to fight off the cold. “They taste gross.”
“So dating me is the only thing you have good taste about I see,” Izzy commented with a smirk, ignoring Cat rolling he eyes.
