Aubrey visited Mari's grave again, bringing another bouquet. She was coming every day and trying to take care of her grave as well as she could, even if it was just running a cloth to remove dirt.
She put the flowers and rested her hand on the headstone.
“Hey, Mari, it's just me again. As you can say, I really miss you. Do you remember how we both agreed to dye our hair? As you can see, I kept the promise and did mine. This morning.”
She smiled through tears that started to run down her cheeks. Then, grimaced.
“I… Have never told you this, but you were my first crush. It feels so stupid to say about this now, but… Ah, I'm making myself look like a fool, am I not?”
She squatted and hid her head in her arms, crying. Every single time she came there, she just couldn't hold herself. The thought that she's never going to see Mari again hurt her, and distancing herself from her childhood friends was making it more painful.
She could swear she felt a warm embrace. She assumed it was just her imagination, but couldn't not think of Mari hugging her.
