What Day Is It?

Summary:

Athena was overworked lately and Trucy worries if she forgot of their anniversary.

Work Text:

Athena and Trucy were sitting on a bench in the park. It was one of the warm days of autumn. Athena was holding in her hand a pretty yellow leaf that has just fallen… accidentally on her head, so she decided to keep it. At least for now.

“What day is it, Thena?” Trucy asked out of blue.

“It's Tuesday.”

“That's true, but I'm asking about the date,” the magician pressed on her girlfriend. They were dating for three whole years now and she hoped that Athena didn't forget the date of their anniversary.

“It's September 20,” the attorney answered and just now realized why Trucy asked. “O- oh! It's our anniversary, isn't it?”

Trucy smiled brightly and hugged her, kissing her cheek.

“That's correct! I was starting to worry that you forgot of our special day, Thena.”

“I'm sorry, but I'm just having extremely busy days recently and-”

The younger woman patted her partner's shoulder and the smile didn't vanish from her face.

“I know that the latest days weren't easy for you and I'm happy you found some time for me today,” she said and stood up. There was a gift she prepared for Athena and would give it to her anyway, but it was better when she was already aware.

She took her top hat off and shoved her hand inside, taking a box of Athena's favorite chocolates and a fluffy plush cat. There still were tricks Trucy had in her sleeve and that weren't revealed during that terrible trial.

“T- Trucy, you're so sweet… But I don't have anything to give for you,” Athena whispered and blushed of embarrassment. How could she forget in the first place? She could do better!

“Just the fact we're spending this day together is a present for me,” Trucy answered with a large, bright smile and handled the gifts to her girlfriend.

Athena stood up, too, and took the presents from Trucy. She smiled and hugged her tight.

“Thank you, I love you, Truce.”

“I love you, too, Thena. Oh, if we're standing already… Let's take a walk maybe?”

Athena nodded and let her go, grabbing her hand. They were really lucky that they could spend their time outside, though they could just be laying under a warm blanket and watching a movie as well. But wouldn't the rain simply ruin the atmosphere? Some people did like when it was raining, but not them. They preferred when it was sunny.

They stopped when they arrived to the area in which a small pond was made and Athena put her hand in her pocket, feeling a small box inside, next to the keys. She embarrassed herself again, but decided to pretend like if it was all set up to happen this way.

“Hey, Trucy, I… Will you marry me?”

“You know the answer, Thena,” Trucy answered with a large smile. “I was actually planning to propose to you soon,” she added and chuckled.

Trucy took her glove off and let Athena to put a ring on her finger. It was gold with a pretty emerald on it, the color matching the one of Trucy's brooch. She was saving money for a long time until she was able to buy it.

Trucy hugged her tight and kissed her on lips.
