The Silent Princesses had begun to regrow at a rapid pace since Calamity Ganon’s defeat. Without his power and influence spreading across the land, the once endangered flower could now flourish again. Able to be grown domestically alongside it growing in the wild. With this, the population had seen a massive influx within a little over a year.
What was used to be a flower on the verge of vanishing from the world entirely, had now begun to prosper across all of Central Hyrule.
It was a thrilling development. One that required research as soon as it had been discovered. Zelda wanted to know if the flower always grew at a rate such as this pre-calamity, or if something else created such a boom.
She had a theory that her powers granted to her from Hylia might have had something to do with it. Though she couldn’t be quite sure. To prove this hypothesis, data needed to be recorded along with multiple surveys of the land.
Mipha tagged along for today’s trip across Hyrule Field. Taking in the gorgeous sights hand-in-hand. Gathering data and admiring how the Silent Princess had brought itself back from the brink. A feat of nature’s determination that inspired the both of them.
Reminding them of their own battle against Calamity Ganon, and how despite it all—they both had made it to the other side. Even against outstanding odds.
The two girls sat on a picnic blanket, surrounded by flowers. It was perfectly picturesque with a sunny blue sky over their heads.
“It’s truly magnificent how the population has recovered so quickly.” Zelda spoke. “I hope we can learn more about this phenomenon soon.”
Mipha could see the excitement and wonder color Zelda’s beautiful eyes, her passion for research shining through. And her heart instantly warmed up at the sight.
She had harbored feelings for Zelda for the longest time. Holding them close to her chest for years. Once the Calamity became an issue, there was no time for romance. As much as her heart had yearned to tell her. To let Zelda know how she felt about her.
Now that the battle was behind everyone, Mipha was able to confess her true feelings. In fact, Zelda had felt the same way about her as well.
Though held to her duty as the Princess of Hyrule and the one chosen by the Goddess Hylia, she too had no time for romance. Zelda barely had any time for any of her research on top of that. Not to mention how her father made her focus on developing her powers.
Only when peace had returned to the land, would they have the luxury of starting any kind of relationship.
It had been a massive relief to Mipha that Zelda had also felt the same way. Over the past year, their bond had grown and evolved into something truly beautiful. They’d spend all the time they could together, rebuilding Hyrule as a pair.
“It is an amazing miracle, Princess Zelda.”
“No need to be so formal.” Zelda smiled, and it was like the sun above. “I told you that you can just call me Zelda.”
“Right.” Mipha still couldn’t help herself. Even after all this time. Being the princess of the Zoras, she was so used to being formal with everyone. Which included her own girlfriend.
Mipha looked over to the batch of Silent Princesses that were up against the picnic blanket. Swaying gently in the warm breeze. Growing and flourishing. The petals a beautiful combination of blue and white, reminiscent of what Zelda herself would wear.
She suddenly had an idea.
As she picked it, Mipha silently thanked Hylia and all the Goddesses for the flower to be able to prosper once more. It still felt daunting to pick one of these out of the ground. Even though taking just one wouldn’t make even the tiniest dent to the population now. There would be no harm in this action.
Carefully she placed the flower into Zelda’s hair. Making sure not to nick her with her Zora claws.
Mipha’s heart warmed up even more. It looked perfect on Zelda. Those white and blue petals complimented her long blonde hair, strands of it also slightly drifting in the wind. Zelda looked even more beautiful to Mipha than anything in all of Hyrule.
Surprised, a small rush of pink came up to Zelda’s cheeks. She smiled widely. Taking Mipha’s hand in hers. With her free hand, Zelda picked one too and placed it between Miphas headpiece.
“There. Now we match!” She chuckled before her expression turned into a genuine smile. “It really suits you.”
Mipha looked over to the Sheikah slate and had another idea.
“Let’s take a picture, to remember today by.”
Zelda’s eyes lit up yet again. “Wonderful idea!” She prepared the slate, as well as a stand for it so they could take the picture.
They posed in a glorious field of flowers. Filled with all kinds, not just Silent Princesses. A river flowed not too far from them in the distance, making for a wonderful backdrop. Both girls had the biggest grins on their faces, embracing each other as the slate counted down from ten.
A snap and a flash, the picture was taken. They hurriedly rushed back to it to see how the picture came out.
Zelda’s eyes warmed up as she looked down at the slate’s screen. “It turned out marvelous.” A new memory for the two of them to cherish together. “I’ll make sure to tell Purah to get this printed.”
Mipha nodded quietly with a big smile of her own. She reached out her hand, “Shall we continue looking over the land, Zelda?”
Zelda eagerly took Mipha’s hand into her own. “Of course! There’s still so much data to gather.” She quickly planted a kiss on her girlfriend’s cheek, who could feel her smile pressed up against her skin.
Both of the girls were over the moon as they continued to survey the land together, hand-in-hand once again.
