Work Text:

It's one thing to know that Ariadne is the Inquisitor. That she leaves for months at a time to slay dragons, meet foreign dignitaries, and stop the veil from falling apart is something that Josephine accepts as fact.

It's a completely different thing to see her wrestling a qunari into submission, sweat trailing down her bare torso. Even if she wasn't intending to stop by, staying quickly becomes a priority. Something about the quick jabs to the Iron Bull's kidneys and her roar of defiance as she tackles him to the ground makes Josephine stop.

The Inquisitor is a violent woman. Josephine knows this deep in her core, but seeing the strength of dragons in her as the pair wrestle makes it real. The same hand that gently holds Josie's hand to bestow a kiss upon her knuckles is currently holding the Iron Bull against the ground as he struggles to shake her off. He rocks to the side and has her pinned. Josephine cannot suppress the small gasp that escapes her as Ari uses her legs to push him off and scramble to her feet, once again ready to trade blows. The Iron Bull might be laughing, but all Josephine can hear is the crazed laughter of Ari, ready to throw herself back into combat.

Exhilaration courses throughout Josephine's body. This is the Inquisitor in all her glory, the might of Andraste behind her. Fearsome, unabashed, and a true warrior. A small pit builds in her stomach as she realises this is a side she hasn't seen before. Ariadne has really only let Josie see the wayward noblewoman, only ever treating her with the grace and decorum for women of her station. The pit warps and changes as Josephine realises she wants Ari in all aspects. As warrior, noblewoman, and chosen of the Maker.

And these depths of emotion are deeply terrifying. So Josephine pulls herself away, and returns to her task. She has a schedule to keep.
