They agreed to meet in an abandoned Muggle house. Ginny wondered if the Muggles escaped in time.
When Astoria arrived, Ginny asked, "What's too important for a dead drop?"
Astoria inhaled sharply. Ginny's leg was bandaged, her face disfigured by a curse.
"Why are you in the field when you're injured?"
"Because the war doesn't stop. Because my only Unspeakable operative said it's urgent. This had better be good. If the Order finds out you're making contact just to check on me…"
Astoria reached to touch Ginny's maimed cheek, then let her hand fall.
"Not only to check on you. There's a leak within Mysteries, very high level defection. The time-turner plans are gone."
"Fuck! Our codes aren't safe anymore. It's only a matter of time until they figure out you're an Order informant. You have to run."
"I'm your only source inside Mysteries! You need me. And you said so yourself, the war doesn't stop."
They both felt the truth like an ache.
"Astoria, it's not safe for us to…"
"It's never been safe. It might never be safe again. I, for one, would like to enjoy the time we have."
"Oh, fuck it." Ginny surrendered and kissed her.
