Sunlight and birdsong stream in through the open window with the dewy scent of morning. Chrome blinks awake, watching a robin hop along the fence. She checks the time on her phone and smiles. Her alarm won’t go off for another hour.
She rolls back over, wrapping herself around Kyoko’s still sleeping form. Kyoko mutters into her pillow, and Chrome presses her face into Kyoko’s shoulders, breathing in the smell of her.
Her eyes flutter closed again.
Kyoko wakes her up later with a soft kiss and a gentle, “Good morning,” just before the peace is shattered by Chrome’s alarm.
