Chapter Text
The hot summer sun burns down on a small house, its curtains drawn and its mailbox overflowing. Elizabeth stands out front, no longer wearing her uniform and instead is dressed in a unbuttoned pink sweater with a white crop top decorated with a pink heart underneath it. She also has on a pair of jeans with pink flowers embroidered up the side. She raises her hand and gently knocks on the door.
HENRY: I’m coming, hold on.
Henry pulls the down open, he looks like a mess. His hair is greying and his clothes are stained and disheveled. He takes one look at Elizabeth’s face and feels his heart stop.
HENRY: E-Elizabeth, i-is that you?
ELIZABETH: Hey Henry, we’re both so glad to see you again.
HENRY: B-both?
Elizabeth gives him a wide smile before she moves out of the way letting Charlie come into full view. She’s dressed the same as before, her ghostly form slightly transparent in the sunlight but clearly visible.
HENRY: Cha-Charlie?
CHARLIE: Hi dad.
Charlie gives a gentle smile as she awkwardly steps close to Henry.
HENRY: You’re here… Like for real?
Henry reaches to touch her face, the strange airy feeling of her form grazing his fingers.
CHARLIE: Well I’m a ghost, but yes I’m here.
CHARLIE: We’re both here.
Charlie looks up at Elizabeth and gives her a warm smile.
HENRY: I-I can’t believe it, this is… Wow.
ELIZABETH: We both missed you very much Henry.
Henry turns to look at Elizabeth again, remembering that she’s also here.
HENRY: Oh, we should head inside.
HENRY: Y-you okay with that?
CHARLIE: Of course dad, let’s catch up inside.
ELIZABETH: Yeah we have so much to tell you.
HENRY: I can tell.
HENRY: Come on, this way.
Henry ushers them inside, Elizabeth and Charlie grab each other's hands. The two look each other in the eyes as they interlock their fingers, small smiles growing on their faces.
ELIZABETH: You ready Charlie
CHARLIE: With you? Always.
The two enter the house together, ready for whatever comes next in their lives.
