Work Text:
Her knees hit the ground with a soft thump. Sitting in front of her is a grave-marker reading "Stephanie A. Brown, beloved daughter and friend." Something crawls in Cass' throat, a bitter wilting mess of half aborted thoughts to scream into the void. Steph could not be described with little words. She was uncompromisable. She was … everything. More than everything. She was Cass' world.
Cass places her flowers down, tears welling into the corners of her eyes. She carefully arranges them, ensuring that no petals block out Steph's name. A heavy pressure rests on heart as she stands.
"Goodbye, Stephanie."
