Work Text:
Once upon a time, there was a strong princess, a weak prince, and a worldly scholar.
The princess and the prince fell in love. The princess helped the prince with his weaknesses, but was never condescending with him. The prince in turn took care of the princess how he could. However, there was a scholar that helped both of them. The prince valued her intelligence, and was very pleased to have her input. But, the princess fell in love with the scholar, while still loving the prince.

“And what’s the end of the tale?” Sakura asked, a bit distracted with the book still in her grasp. Remi had sat down next to her and started talking about this fairytale.
“There’s no ending yet,” Remi replied, gently pushing Sakura’s book to lay on the table, and have the girl’s attention on her.
“Most fairytales were written centuries ago; how is there not an ending?” Sakura inquired, looking up at her friend.
“Because it’s a metaphor, silly. It’s not a real fairytale.”
“…Metaphor for what, exactly?” Sakura was confused and intrigued to where this was leading.
“Who do you know that’s like the scholar?”
Sakura sat back, and moved a hand to her chin as she thought. “Hmm…myself, I suppose. I consider myself at least pretty intelligent.
Remi giggled. “Alright. And who’s the prince?”
“Sengoku, obviously. You describe him like that pretty often.”
“Then who’s the princess?”
Sakura thought. She thought again. She realized. She looked over to her friend, a look of realization dawning on her face.
Remi smiled. “Remi doesn’t want to make Sakura feel pressured. But, I do love you. I want you to know.”
Sakura could only stare at her friend. Eventually, a smile came over her face. A hand tentatively reached out, which Remi took, holding Sakura’s in a soft grip.
“What…does Sengoku think about this?”
“Remi and Sengoku talked. He’s perfectly okay with me also dating Sakura, if Sakura wants to.”
Sakura smile grew a little wider, and a few tears gather at the edges of her eyes. “I would love that.”
