Work Text:

“I’m so excited for this trip!” Bianca exclaimed, gently squeezing Hilda’s arm.

“I know! There’s some really cool Pokemon at the Nature Reserve,” Hilda agreed, patting Bianca’s arm. She gently pried the girl off her arm, but held her hand in place of it. “We’re nearly to Mistralton City. It’s just up ahead.”

Bianca squeed happily, just like a kid. Well, she did just turn 16. “Miss Skyla is so nice to let us borrow her plane to go there.”

“She sure is. But, we do have some time tonight to just walk around the town. You up to visiting Celestial Tower?”

Bianca hummed, a tad uncomfortable. “Isn’t that the one with all the ghosts?”

“Bianca, you study Pokemon professionally now. Are you still scared of ghost types?” Hilda teases, squeezing the girl’s hand.

“Of course! Just because I work with them doesn’t mean they aren’t scary…”

Hilda just laughed, slinging an arm over Bianca’s shoulder. “It’s okay! You have your knight in shining armor to protect you; me! Or, well, my buddies. I’m not much good in a direct fist fight.”

Bianca gives Hilda a small smile, leaning into her. “Thank you. You always help me out.”

“’Course!”

The two keep walking, and they finally make it to Mistralton City. Hilda moves her arm off Bianca, but takes her hand back. “You okay going to visit the tower? The view at the top is really beautiful.”

Bianca took a deep breath, squeezing Hilda’s hand. “Since you’re coming with me…I think I am.”

“Awesome!” Hilda leads them down the path to the tower. She enters, leading Bianca in with her. The tower is a bit dark inside since it’s night, and a few psychics are still scattered about the tower.

As the two ascend the stairs, it slowly gets darker and darker. Bianca is a bit paranoid, especially since Hilda keeps taking on anyone who wants to challenge her again.

They’re one floor from the top, and it’s nearly pitch-black. Bianca is holding tightly to Hilda’s hand. “Hilda, are we almost there?”

“Mhm, just up these stairs.” Hilda is unaffected by the dark atmosphere, but Bianca can sense all the Pokemon near them. She really hopes they get to the top soon.

As they start walking up the stairs, Bianca suddenly screams as a horde of Litwick go past their feet, climbing to the top floor of the tower. Bianca immediately clings to Hilda, who has to readjust for them not to fall off the stairs.

“Whoa girl, easy. It’s just some Litwicks.” Hilda gently rubs Bianca’s head, soothing the scared girl.

“I don’t wanna go up. All of them are gonna be up there, and it’s a tall tower, and- and-” Bianca buries her face in the other girl’s shoulder, hiding her eyes.

Hilda just holds her, trying to soothe her girlfriend. “Bianca, can you hear me?”

Bianca hesitantly nods.

“I want us to keep going to the top. I promise you, it’s worth it. Do you trust me?”

Bianca freezes up, but Hilda doesn’t pressure her. Eventually, a mumbled ‘mhm’ comes out of her mouth. Hilda helps Bianca to stand up, but keeps a firm grip on her hand. They very slowly ascend the stairs, each step a major hurdle for Bianca. But, she trusted Hilda.

When they get to the top, Bianca’s eyes had to adjust to the outside world again. She blinked, and a gasp escaped her lips. The Litwicks were all on the edge of the tower’s railing. Their soft glow provided a lovely atmosphere, and Bianca looked over to Hilda, squeezing her hand.

“It’s…beautiful.”

“I knew you’d love it.”

Bianca gave her a soft smile, and leaned against her, just looking out on the scene.

“I do love it.”
