Work Text:
“Marian, what’cha up to today?” Collette asked, leaning into the cauldron room where the apprentice witch was stirring something.
“Perfect timing!” She exclaimed, dropping her hold of the stirring stick. “Or, maybe not quite. Anyways, I’m working on a super secret potion, but I need another set of eyes here to help me out. But, grandma’s out all day, so…can you stay?”
“I mean…I don’t have much to do today, so sure. But, you owe me for this.”
Marian hugged her friend tight. “Of course! I’ll go set the hourglass.” She let go of Collette and opened a panel on the wall. Inside is an hour glass. She flips it over, and the sand starts falling through.
“How long will I need to stay around?” Collette asked, watching the hourglass for a few moments, and Marian went back to the cauldron.
“3 hours! Not too long; we can talk and keep each other entertained!”
Collette was starting to regret agreeing to this. She got antsy staying in one place for so long.
——————————————
“It’s only been two hours…how am I gonna survive this last one…” Collette groaned, very absentmindedly watching the pot. Truthfully, the three hours were nearly over, but Collette was getting very antsy.
“You’ll be fine! Let’s ask each other more questions,” Marian suggests, not a bit of pep gone from her voice.
“But we’ve already talked about everything!” Collette complains.
“We haven’t talked about boys yet,” Marian teased, poking Collette’s cheek.
Collette’s face lit up, and she looked away. “I don’t have any interest in anyone!”
“Really?” Marian asks, a giggle bubbling under her voice. “Who is it? Micah?”
“No.”
“Gaius?”
“No.”
“Carlos?”
“No.”
“What the heck; there’s no one else besides your brother!”
“Gross!” Collette shrieks.
“I know. But, you really seemed like you were hiding a crush…”
Collette doesn’t respond, which makes Marian more suspicious. Then, it hits her. “You…you like a girl!”
Collette immediately slapped a hand over Marian’s mouth, not even noticing the way the other girl’s face was red. “Shut it! I haven’t told dad or Rusk yet…”
Marian nodded, and Collette removed her hand.
“Who is it, or do you want me to guess again?” Marian asked.
Collette held up two fingers, indicating the second option.
“Alright. Who all is there…Pia?”
Collette shook her head.
“Sakuya?”
Another shake.
“Carmen?”
“No.”
“Raven?”
“Nu-uh.”
“Sofia?
“Nope.”
“Shara?”
She sighed. “Still no.”
“Karina?”
“No.”
“Then Daria. She’s the only one left.”
“No she’s not…”
Marian leaned back, going back through everyone in their village. She listed out everyone in every house, trying to pinpoint who she possibly forgot. Then…
“…me?”
Collette nodded, her cheeks red. Marian squealed in excitement, and with barely a second thought, grabbed Collette’s cheeks, and placed a kiss straight on her lips.
Collette’s eyes flew open, and she shoved Marian back on impulse. Thankfully, she took no offense to it. “Are…did…why aren’t you upset? Me liking girls is one thing, but how are you not creeped out that I like you like that?”
Marian just hugged her friend again. “Silly! I love you back! That’s what this potion is; it’s like, a love potion! Not the weird, forceful creepy ones. Just, a potion filled with love. That’s why I needed you here; to make me feel so much love that it just pours into the potion!”
Collette didn’t know her face could grow brighter. But, out of the corner of her eye, she caught the last drops of sand falling down. 3 hours were up, and the potion was complete.
Marian squeezed her hands, bringing her back to the moment. “Collette, I don’t wanna force you, but do you wanna be my girlfriend?”
Collette hugged her tight immediately. “Yes, of course! I want that so much!”
Marian grinned, holding her now-girlfriend tight. “I love you so much! I’ll get this potion to you quick as I can so you can always remember that.”
”Thank you…”
