She couldn't forget her promise to Renge, to call her once she'd settled in at the United Kingdom. Rinne was still a little nervous about doing a long-distance relationship. Especially with a distance like this.
But they were more than willing to put in the work.
Laying down on her new dorm bed, Rinne dialed her girlfriend. She picked up near instantly.
“Star-scholar!” Renge's voice beamed out of the speaker. It was as if a ray of sun started to shine, the warmth from her joy having never left Rinne’s side. “So how's the United Kingdom treatin' ya?”
Rinne smiled. Thrilled to hear her talk again. “Good so far. My professor has been nice to me. I meet the staff of the Academy's branch here tonight too.”
“Man I'm shocked you still have it in ya to do two full sets of classes again.” She chuckled, hearing the sound of her laugh again made Rinne's cheeks warm up. “But if anyone can become a high ranking alchemist, I know it's you!”
Those kind words made Rinne’s smile grow even wider than before. As well as warm up her heart. She desperately wished she could reach over the phone and hug Renge right now.
Once she'd mastered portal alchemy, Rinne knew she'd have to try to do that in the future. Though just teleporting there would be much more straightforward.
For hours the two continued to chat away. Even with so many kilometers between them now, nothing had changed between them.
