Chapter 4: Mine

Chapter Text

The air is stale and moist. Dust fills Elizabeth’s lungs as she walks down the stairs to the basement below, gripping the crowbar tighter in her hands. Each step causes her heart to race faster, it pounds in her ears as she makes it to the bottom. The space is small and dusty, filled with unused items from a time long past. It’s all the stuff from Freddy’s, the version Elizabeth remembers, the one she grew up alongside as her and Charlie’s fathers raised it up.

    ???: Elizabeth.

Elizabeth freezes in place, it feels like the whole world freezes with her as the slow thuds of something hitting the floor moves closer. Emerging from the shadows is a yellow rabbit mascot, its fur is stained in dried blood and reeks of death. The piercing purple eyes stare into Elizabeth’s soul as it lumbers towards her, each movement a struggle and laced with pain. The rabbit coughs as it stops its approach, it sounds injured and strained.

    CHARLIE: Elizabeth it’s him!
    CHARLIE: Finish him, do it!

    ???: Elizabeth, it’s me.
    ???: Don’t you recognize me?

Elizabeth is unable to move, her feet are glued in place and her breathing picks up. She starts to shake and the sound of her own heart beat feels like it’s going to overtake every other sense.

    ELIZABETH: F-father?
    WILLIAM: Yes Elizabeth, it’s me.
    WILLIAM: Please, help me Elizabeth.

Elizabeth drops the crowbar to the concrete floor below. She steps forward towards her father, inch by inch.

CHARLIE: Liz what are you doing!
CHARLIE: We need to kill him!

Elizabeth doesn’t hear Charlie’s plea, she can’t focus on anything but her father, his purple eyes pulling her in.

ELIZABETH: I thought you were dead?
    ELIZABETH: I saw the crash.
ELIZABETH: They couldn’t find your body, but you never showed up.

WILLIAM: I am dead Elizabeth, she killed me.
    WILLIAM: Charlie did.
    WILLIAM: She trapped me Elizabeth.
WILLIAM: You have to save me.

William’s voice is weak, and he coughs trying to get the words out. Elizabeth looks back at Charlie, her face contorted with anger.

CHARLIE: It’s not the death you’re thinking of Liz!
CHARLIE: He faked it, he tried to flee.
CHARLIE: I couldn’t let him flee, I couldn’t let him hurt anyone else.
CHARLIE: Not after what he did.
    CHARLIE: I had to.

Elizabeth stands there unmoving, her shaking is worse, her legs feel like they’re going to give out.

    ELIZABETH: H-how could you.
ELIZABETH: Do you know what it was like losing you both!

A sob breaks through Elizabeth’s voice, her legs give out as she falls to her knees.

CHARLIE: He would have hurt more people Liz!
CHARLIE: He will hurt more people if we don’t stop him!

WILLIAM: Don’t listen to her daughter, she’s lying.
    WILLIAM: Help me.

Elizabeth looks up at Charlie through the blurry vision of her puffy eyes. She turns back to her father who made it to the ground next to her, holding his hand out weakly.

    ELIZABETH: W-what do I do?
WILLIAM: I need out of this body, I need to move my soul.
    WILLIAM: I’m rotting Elizabeth.
WILLIAM: Take my hand and I can be free, let me inside.

    CHARLIE: No don’t!
CHARLIE: He’s going to use you, he’s going to make you hurt people.
CHARLIE: He’s going to hurt me, please Liz listen.

Elizabeth doesn’t even look at Charlie, her words blending into nothing as all her focus is on William’s burning eyes. She takes his hand and pulls her close, their faces touching as he stares right into her. The purple of his eyes are hypnotic, Elizabeth feels them fill her vision. Nothing, but brilliant purple as she feels herself slipping away.

WILLIAM: I knew you would do the right thing.
